Dr. Katherine King

Dr. Katherine King, DMD, is a Somerset native. Her father, Dr. B.E. King, practiced dentistry in Somerset from 1957-1982. Katherine is a 1975 graduate of Somerset High School. In 1978 she graduated Transylvania University, where she was named outstanding pre-dental student. She subsequently graduated (1982) from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry.

     Dr. King has served on the voluntary faculty of both the University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville Colleges of Dentistry and Hygiene. Dr. King has served on the Pulaski County Board of Health as well as the Lake Cumberland District Board of Health and is a member of the American and Kentucky Dental Associations.

     Dr. King is a member of the Kentucky Board of Dentistry located in Louisville, KY. She will serve her first term from June 2009 to June 2013.  http://dentistry.ky.gov  

Dr. Richard Connelley, DMD, is a 1979 graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry. He is a member of the Kentucky Dental Association and the American Dental Association. In addition to his involvement at the Somerset dental practice, Dr. Connelley owns two additional practices in Salyersville and Paintsville, KY.

     Dr. Connelley has twenty years of dental implant dentistry experience with extensive training in the Strauman and Nobel Biocare implant systems. He is an acting consultant for Zenith-DMG of Hamburg, Germany, a premier international researcher and manufacturer of Dental materials. Dr. Connelley is certified in Invisalign, Lumineers, and placement of Mini Implants. He exceeds the Kentucky requirements for continuing education hours with an emphasis on implant and cosmetic dentistry.

     Dr. Connelley has actively served on the Magoffin County Board of Health since 1993 and is an advisor to the Dental Hygiene program at Prestonsburg Community College.

     On a personal note, Dr. Connelley is an avid horseman and has been licensed owner/trainer of quarter horses and throuroughbred horses for 35 years. He maintains a large stable of racing thouroughbreds and quarter horses. He is currently vice president of the KY Quarter Horse Racing Association and director of Live Racing. He is the Magoffin County team leader for the KY Equine Education Program.

Dr. Bobby Smith

Dr. Bobby Smith, DMD, is a native of Harlan County. Dr. Smith is a 1994 graduate of Leslie County High School. In 1998 he graduated from Alice Loyd College and he is a 2005 graduate from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry. He has been practicing general dentistry since 2005 and is a member of the American and Kentucky Dental Associations.

On a personal note Dr. Smith is an avid outdoorsman and he especially enjoys fishing.

Renee Wilson

Renee Wilson, EDDA joined our dental team in September 1998 as a front office receptionist. Soon after her hire date she began assisting Dr. King in dental procedures. She graduated from the expanded duty dental assisting program at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry in 2002. She is certified in x-ray training along with OSHA and CPR. She also attends a minimum of 5 continuing education courses per year to ensure the latest in dental products and techniques. She was born and raised in Somerset, Kentucky and lives with her husband George and their five children.

Sharon Stoneman

Sharon Stoneman, RDH, AQP attended Michael J. Owens College in Oregon, OH and graduated with an Associate Degree in Applied Science with a major in Dental Hygiene in 1981. Sharon received her certificate in Advanced Qualified Personnel (expanded duties) to do restorative work from Ohio State University in August 1982. For 18 years she practiced dental hygiene in the state of Michigan. In 1999 she moved to Somerset with her husband and two children and started working for Dr. King in October 2000. She enjoys the dental hygiene profession, the technical skills involved and working with patients to improve their oral health.

Erika Burton

Erika Burton, RDH joined the well-established dental practice in June 2002. She attended Somerset Community College and Lexington Community College, earning a degree in Dental Hygiene. Some of the important services she provides are initial evaluations, x-rays, oral cancer screenings, oral hygiene education, and, of course, cleanings. Ongoing CPR training and continuing education courses are required for Erika in order to meet safety standards and stay current with new technology.

Megan Erp

Megan Erp, RDH has been a part of our dental team since September 2008. She graduated with her license in dental hygiene at the University of Kentucky Dental School. She is trained to administer block and infiltration anesthesia and nitrous oxide analgesia. She lives in Somerset.

Bridgett Asberry

Bridgett Asberry, RDH graduated from the Big Sandy Community and Technical College as a registered dental hygienist in June 2009. She received training to administer block and infiltration anesthesia as well as nitrous oxide anesthesia. Bridgett also completed the expanded duties dental assisting program at the University of Louisville in 2002. She lives in Somerset with her husband and two children.

Heather Hopkins

Heather Hopkins, EDDA  started working at the office in June 2009 as Dr. King's dental assistant. She graduated from the Bluegrass Community College Dental Assisting program in May 2009. She is certified in dental radiology and expanded duties. Heather attends several continuing educatiion courses throughout the year to ensure that she is updated on the newest and most recent dental procedures. Heather was born and raised in Rockcastle county but moved to Somerset three years ago.

Britney Jones

Britney Jones is Dr. Smith's dental assistant. She attended Dental Careers Foundation in Columbus, IN. She then assisted for a year at a dental practice in Shelbyville, IN where she received her radiology license. She is also CPR certified and attends continuing education classes. She joined our office in September 2009 after relocating back to Mt. Victory, KY with her husband and two young children. 

Angela Wallace

Angela Wallace joined our staff in August of 2007. She is the receptionist and accounts manager. She attends several seminars per year as well as OSHA training. She and her husband, Steve, live in Somerset. They have 5 children.

Brenna McDaniel

Brenna McDaniel is our front office assistant. She joined our practice in January 2009. She was born in Indiana but raised in Kentucky. She is a 2009 graduate of Southwestern High School. Brenna now attends Somerset Communinty College.

Allie

Allie Beckman is front office assistant. She is a senior at Somerset High School. She is Dr. King's niece and has always lived in Somerset.  She has been apart of our staff since the fall of 2009.

St. Apollonia

This original stained glass window was designed and crafted by Dr. Katherine King and features St. Apollonia, the Patron Saint of Dentistry. St. Apollonia was tortured and martyred in c.249 in Alexandria Egypt. After her teeth were broken with pincers, she was given the choice of renouncing her faith or being burned alive. She chose the later by leaping into the fire herself. She is most often depicted holding pincers and a gilded tooth. This artwork is displayed in our dental office.
